Participants must be registered University of Michigan students invited through Michigan Data Science, Biostatistics, the School of Information, or Computer Science. The event is designed primarily for incoming and second-year master's students, with select PhD participation. Participants must attend the event in person.

Projects must be submitted by teams of 3–4 participants, subject to final event headcount and organizer-approved adjustments.

K2 Horizon must be used in the submitted working prototype and perform meaningful reasoning central to the product. Other tools, libraries, and project components are allowed. Teams should clearly disclose any pre-existing or third-party components and must have the right to use all submitted materials.

Submit the project title, team roster, short description, explanation of K2 Horizon's role, repository or project link, and demo materials by 6:00 PM Eastern on September 19, 2026.

All teams will present in person during the expo-style session from 6:30–8:30 PM. Projects will be judged on meaningful use of K2 Horizon, working prototype and technical execution, real-world usefulness, and demo clarity and project understanding.

Grand Prize — Best Use of K2 Horizon: 100M K2 Horizon tokens for the winning team, plus one Kindle Paperwhite for each winning team member. Honorable Mention recipients will receive premium IFM swag.
